Consul General Zha Liyou Meets with the Director-General of MEA Kolkata Office

On January 11, the newly appointed Chinese Consul General Zha Liyou met with Mrs.Biswas, the Director-General of MEA Kolkata Office.

Consul General Zha thanked Mrs. Biswas for her supports to the Chinese Consulate General over years. He said both China and India are ancient civilizations and have huge potential for cooperation. In 2018, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Modi had met four times and fully demonstrated the importance of bilateral relations. As the fifth Chinese Consul General in kolkata, he would work hard to implement the important consensus reached by the two leaders and fully push the cooperation between China and eastern India. He hopes to maintain close contact and communication with the office of MEA Kolkata.

Mrs.Biswas welcomed Mr.Zha to Kolkata and briefly the functions of the Kolkata office MEA and the east region of India, She said that the Office would continue to support the Chinese Consulate and Consul General to promote the exchanges and cooperation between the east India and the relevant provinces of China in economy, education, tourism, film, municipal construction, etc.

Deputy Director of the Office Mr. Nandi, Deputy Consul General Yu Xiong and Ms.Zhou Yaoyao, Consul Attache of the Consulate attended the meeting.
