Chinese Consulate General in Kolkata Holds Happy Spring Festival Program

On January 28, the Consulate General in Kolkata and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Cultural and Art Troupe jointly held a performance of "Happy Spring Festival" at GD Birla Sabhaghar.

Mr. Zha Liyou, Chinese Consul General in Kolkata; Mr. Li Xiaoqiu, Deputy Director General of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Culture and Tourism Department; Mr. Goindi, Director of SAI Eastern Branch; Prof. Fernandez, Member of the West Bengal Women's Affairs Committee, and friends from business, education, think tanks, media, and overseas Chinese, Chinese companies staff, students, as well as the diplomats from other countries in Kolkata, totally more than 500 people attended the show.

Mr. Zha made a speech before the performance and welcomed all friends coming for the performance and wished them a happy Chinese New Year. He hoped the show will bring the New Year happiness from China to Kolkata and serve as the start of people-to-people exchanges between China and Eastern India in 2019.

Mr. Li Xiaoqiu thanked the Consulate General for providing great assistance to the performance, introduced the Inner Mongolia cultural tourism festival and art troupe, wished the performance a complete success, and looked forward to strengthening exchanges and cooperation in various fields between Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and East India.

Ms. Fernandez said it’s a great pleasure to be invited to see the "Happy Spring Festival" performance again. There were many similarities between Chinese and Indian cultures. Tonight's performance was a good example. She encouraged more local people to join in the friendly exchanges with China.

Chinese Artists performed 16 wonderful programs including songs, dances, acrobatics, magic and instrumental music, presenting an audio and visual feast to the audience and received continuous bursts of warm applause and cheers.

After the performance, Mr. Zha Liyou and the guests presented flowers to the Chinese artists, thanked and congratulated them, and took group photos together.
