The Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata held the 2021 Chinese Spring Festival Virtual Reception on February 8th. More than 50 people from East India, including Mr. Priyadarshi Mishra, Chairman of Odisha State Housing Board, Mr. Kamal Prakash,  Director of Jiwanram Sheoduttrai Group, Mr. Himadrish Suwan, Chairman of Confederation of Young Leaders, attended the reception.

Consul General Zha Liyou extended New Year greetings to the guests and said that 2020 marked the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and India and was a special year. Facing the Covid-19 pandemic, the government and the people of China and India worked together to fight the pandemic and achieved significant results.

Consul General Zha pointed out that in the past year, although people-to-people exchanges between the two countries were affected by the pandemic, Chinese Consulate has actively explored new modes of exchanges between China and the five states of East India, and achieved fruitful results in fighting the pandemic as well as in economic and trade cooperation, cultural exchanges.

Consul General Zha emphasized that 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, which is an important milestone in the new journey of building socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era. Facing the future, the Communist Party of China will unite and lead the Chinese people to remain original aspirations and keep their mission firmly in mind, and work hard to build a prosperous, strong, democratic, civilized, harmonious and beautiful China.

Consul General Zha emphasized that in 2021, the Consulate General will work with the five states of East India to focus on the two major topics of fighting pandemic and striving for development, work together to overcome the pandemic, actively promote cultural exchanges and economic and trade cooperation, and write a new chapter of China-India friendship.

Consul General Zha also introduced the "Commemorative volume of the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and India" to the guests and enjoyed wonderful music played by Indian artists.

Mr. Kamal Prakash,  Director of Jiwanram Sheoduttrai Group, Mr. Sitaram Sharma, Former President of Bharat Chamber of Commerce, Ms.Rosalin Patasani Mishra, President of Parichay Foundation,Ms.Chaitali Das, Managing Trustee of Rakshak Foundation,Mr.Himadrish Suwan, Chairman of Confederation of Young Leaders, Mr.Avijit Banerjee, Head of Cheena Bhavan, Mr.M.Gantait, Chairman of Dr.Dwarkanath Kotnis Memorial Committee of West Bengal and other guests spoke highly of the Consulate General in promoting India-China friendly and practical cooperation and exchanges, expecting China-India relations to go back to the track of friendly cooperation, and are willing to make due contributions from their respective perspectives.
