Deputy Consul General Qin Yong visited Odisha and attended the 15th National Safety Conclave

From December 15 to 18, 2024, Deputy Consul General Qin Yong visited Odisha and attended the 15th National Safety Conclave.

On December 16, Deputy Consul General Qin met with Prof. Sabita Acharya, Vice Chancellor of Utkal University, in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, and held a discussion with the International Office of the University. Qin said that there is great potential for educational cooperation between China and India, and the Consulate General is willing to help the universities of two countries to establish contacts and carry out exchanges and cooperation. The two sides agreed to prioritize mutual cooperation in the fields of Chinese learning, sports and scientific research. Utkal University, established in 1943, is the oldest state-owned public university in Odisha.

On December 18, Deputy Consul General Qin attended the 15th National Safety Conclave with guests including the Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, Mr. Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo. In his speech, Qin illustrated President Xi Jinping's thinking of “putting the people first” and production safety concepts, and said that China and India could further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in this field. Qin also introduced the spirit of the Central Economic Work Conference of CPC held recently in China, saying that China's economic foundation is stable, with many advantages, strong resilience and great potential, and the support conditions and basic trends of China’s long-term economic growth remain unchanged. China's further opening up will provide development opportunities for countries all over the world, including India. Indian companies are welcome to strengthen economic and trade cooperation with China and make good use of platforms such as the China International Import Expo(CIIE) to promote more high-quality products to China. Representatives of Chinese companies in Kolkata, Dongfang Electric Corp.(India) and CRRC (India) also attended the Conclave.

During the visit, Deputy Consul General Qin had a meeting with the Chinese badminton team participating in the Odisha Masters, and awarded the winners together with Mr. Deepankar Mohapatra, Director of Sports of Odisha, and exchanged views on sports cooperation. Qin and his entourage also visited the sales company of Chinese mobile phone brand Vivo and representatives of local Chinese community.
