On July 2, 2026, Consul General Xu Wei attended a press meeting at the Press Club, Kolkata. The event was organized by the renowned social activist Dr. Chaitali Das, to brief the press on the Indian delegation’s participation in the 7th China-South Asia Cooperation Forum. Over 40 media representatives attended, including Press Trust of India (PTI), Asian News International (ANI), The Indian Express, and others.

Consul General Xu noted that under the strategic guidance of the two leaders, China-India relations have continued to improve. This year alone, the Consulate has organized several people-to-people and cultural exchange events. Recently, an Indian artist and media delegation paid a successful visit to Yunnan, which shows that friendship between China and India meets the shared aspirations of the two peoples. He voiced the hope that the two sides would strengthen two-way exchanges and mutual understanding, and jointly write a new chapter of China-India friendship.

On the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Consul General Xu emphasized that the CPC has always been committed to building a community with a shared future for mankind. As two major developing countries and leading emerging economies, China and India should work together to seize the opportunities of our times and contribute to the prosperity and stability of the region and the world at large.

Dr. Chaitali Das and representatives from the delegation described the visit to Yunnan as highly fruitful, remarking that the trip offered them firsthand experience of China’s vibrant socio-economic development and its charming multi-ethnic culture. They expressed their readiness to actively engage in people-to-people and cultural exchanges and to promote further cooperation and dialogue between the two ancient civilizations.

After the meeting, Consul General Xu also took questions from the media on topics such as China-India relations and BRICS cooperation, and gave interviews to PTI, ANI and other outlets.
