On 28 September 2026, Consul General Xu Wei met with a delegation of Indian acupuncture doctors. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening China-India people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation in acupuncture and traditional medicine.

Consul General Xu congratulated the delegation on its successful visit to China and said that the two leaders of China and India recently reached an important consensus that China and India should be partners. In recent years, China-India relations have continued to improve, with a rich array of people-to-people and cultural exchanges. As a vivid symbol of China-India friendship, Dr. B. K. Basu, a member of the Indian Medical Mission to China, devoted himself to promoting acupuncture in India after returning home, making positive contributions to medical exchanges and friendship between the two countries. Consul General Xu expressed hope that the delegation would build on the outcomes of the visit, further deepen China-India exchanges and cooperation in traditional medicine, promote the development of acupuncture in India, and enhance the friendship between the two peoples.
Dr. Bakshi, head of the delegation and a direct disciple of Dr. Basu, said that through this visit, the delegation gained a firsthand understanding of the latest achievements in integrating traditional Chinese medicine with modern technology. He expressed admiration for China’s economic and social achievements and said that the delegation would continue to promote the development of acupuncture in India, strengthen traditional medicine exchanges between the two countries, and contribute to enhancing friendship between the two peoples.
At the invitation of the Chinese Consulate General in Kolkata, a delegation of five acupuncture doctors, including Dr. Bakshi and Dr. Mitra, visited Nanjing, Shijiazhuang, Yan’an and Xi’an from 15 to 21 September 2026.
