On 4 November 2026, Acting Consul General Ouyang Huifeng visited the Sopan Education Centre in Mamudpur village, Hooghly district, West Bengal, where he attended a rural children’s care and supplies donation event jointly organized by the Chinese Consulate General in Kolkata and the Be and Make Foundation. Local community representatives, teachers, students, and villagers attended the event.

Acting Consul General Ouyang noted that children are the future of a country and education carries the hope for development, adding that caring for children and supporting education is a shared responsibility that transcends borders. He expressed the expectation that China and India, as two ancient civilizations with a long history of friendly exchanges, would further strengthen people-to-people exchanges and educational cooperation, enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples, especially among the younger generation.

During the event, local villagers and children sang and danced with great warmth and enthusiasm. Consulate officials also gained insight into local livelihoods and traditional culture, immersing themselves in the rural life and customs of West Bengal.
